Blogging For The Search Engines... Where Do You Start?

This is one of the biggest questions most Bloggers will eventually ask.  How Do I Get My Blog In The Search Engines?

And it's actually easier than you think...

First let's debunk a big myth when it comes to getting listed with the search engines.

Myth - You Need To Submit To The Search Engines.

Totally and Completely untrue and a waste of time and money to be honest with you.

In Fact... You don't even need to submit your site to any search engines at all if you don't want to and yes... your site can still get listed.

The quickest way to get your Blog into most search engines is to have a link to your Blog from another Blog or site that is already being indexed and spidered by the search engines.

Between these two sites you'll have enough link popularity to get nearly any MLM blog spidered and indexed into both Google and Yahoo within 48-72 hours.

Keep in mind "indexing" and "listing" are two different things.

Now with the search engine submission lie out of the way we can get into the meat about what is really important to have in your Blog if you're looking to position in the search engines.

#1.  Your Blog URL - The URL or web address for your Blog can be an important aspect to optimizing your Blog for the search engines.

Obviously you would want a Blog address or domain name that reflects the content of the Blog.  This is important because the address of your Blog or domain name are often one of the first places a search engine will look for a quick description of what your page is.

#2.  Your Blog "Meta Title" - This is your Blog or websites "Title Tag" and next to your domain name this is also one of the first places a search engine will look for an accurate description of your site content.

It's important that you include your keywords you would like to get optimized for in the title tag.  Don't just stuff the title full of keywords instead structure it into 2 or 3 phrases that use your chosen keywords.

This will give your page a more "Natural" look to the search engines.  Also keep in mind when you change your title tag it's often the trigger that will bring the search engine spiders back to your site to see what the change is about.

#3.  Your Blog "Meta Description" - While not as important as the above two aspects of your Blog your Meta Description should give a very clear one or two sentence explanation on your site and content.  Some search engines will display your Meta Description as the search results description so make it count.

#4.  The Titles Of Your Posts - This is an often overlooked item when most Bloggers first get started. And it's very important to word your post titles for the search engines as they are commonly used as the anchor text that will link visitors to the specific post within your Blog or from your archives.

For example if you read my "MLM Lead Generation Blog" you will notice that each and every title I have to a post is directly related to the content in that specific post. Because I am aiming for good ranking on the keyword phrase "MLM Lead Generation" you'll notice that I use that phrase as often as I can in both my post titles and the posts themselves.

So make sure you title your posts so that they are keyword rich and give and accurate description of your article.

#5.  Content Of Your Posts - Your Blog posts are the "meat" of your Blogs content so it's important to try to keep them relevant to the keywords you want to rank for or directly related to your Blogging topic.

If you're Blogging about your specific MLM company and want to rank high for the company name for example then you would obviously want to mention the company name as often as you can without sounding stupid.  Be sure to include it in your title as well.

A two or three paragraph article should contain about the same instances of your chosen keywords.  You can even BOLD your keywords in the article as some search engines will take extra note of this.

#6.  Your Linking Strategy - We already established at the beginning of this article that linking is important when trying to get your site indexed and eventually listed by the search engines.

It's important to have other relevant websites and Blogs linking to you.  This will help boost your link popularity.  When you have acquired several quality incoming links you will start to notice your Blog raise it's rank in the engines.
